Supporting a cause that matters: Our partnership with the Gut Cancer Foundation

PIC Insurance Brokers is proud to celebrate the one-year anniversary of our major charity partnership with the Gut Cancer Foundation (GCF), an organisation that funds innovative research and provides vital information and education to improve and save the lives of New Zealanders impacted by gut cancers. 

Over the past year, our PIC team has truly embraced the partnership. Some of the exciting activities we have been involved with include:  

• Running and walking in various events around New Zealand to raise funds and promote awareness through our Let’s Get Moving campaign 

• Participating in the Give It Up for Gut Cancer month by forgoing sugar, caffeine, alcohol or other vices to promote healthy living 

• Engaging with GCF’s health and wellbeing modules to better understand how we can create healthy habits everyday 

• Partnering with the NZ Long Blacks golf team to raise funds for GCF at our PIC Golf Day in Auckland 

Established in 2008, the Gut Cancer Foundation is the voice of cancers of the digestive system. With over 6,000 Kiwis diagnosed every year, gut cancers are collectively the most common form of cancer in New Zealand—yet they often don’t receive the attention or funding that other cancer types do. 

That’s why we’re so passionate about supporting the inspirational work GCF does. Over the past year, GCF has achieved some incredible outcomes across advocacy, research and patient support and awareness, including: 

• Successfully advocated for four new treatments which will benefit over 375 patients every year 

• Delivered eight individual grants of over $170,000 funding clinical trials and research tailored specifically to New Zealand's population 

• Undertaken five national campaigns to shine a light on early detection and education around gut cancers 

• Launched New Zealand’s first research and information hub for patients and careers 

More than just a partnership 

For our team at PIC, this is more than just a corporate partnership—it’s a shared commitment to improving health outcomes for all New Zealanders. Many of us have been personally touched by cancer in some way, so being able to give back through this partnership is something we’re proud of.
